Panic room looks like a very good movie. I can't wait until it hits cinemas here! Might be a while though :/

Cargo pants own. Nuff said!

The usual, working away, etc. Easter holidays are here now and that means, for the most part, controlled chaos. Nothing much of interest to say really.

I've been checking out more short movies lately and I've managed to find some goods ones: Fifty Percent Grey (been around a while now), For the Birds (from the start of Monsters Inc), grainS, Inculta, Stump, etc.

I'm waiting for some raaaiiiinnnnn. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow we'll get some. Over the next month it should get a lot colder, which will be great >:)

Some time Monday afternoon:

Time for an update!

I've been slack getting these online lately for a number of reasons. Mostly, I've just been busy.

Probably the most interesting thing (for me anyway) is that I've finally got my driver's licence. The test had been booked for over a month, and last Thursday I finally got to go for it. It wasn't too bad really.

On the weekend we headed down to Brisbane to do some stuff, and I spent most of the time with my brother setting up his new V-Drum system. It's rather tasty. He also got some nice Sony DJ headphones :P~~ If they hadn't been the last pair in the store I would have bought some for myself.

Anyway now I'm back to continuing work on some interface designs (met with the client last Friday and things went pretty well). I'd like to get it out of the way as soon as possible so that I can move on to other things.

Tuesday morning (i.e. oops I forgot to finish writing the last part):

Just got back from a nice little drive around the place. It's typical of here... I go from the harbour to the point and the whole time I only see one other car, some guy going fishing and a few tourists hanging around some phone booths. The place is going off! heh.

Nearly a week without an update. I've been quite busy... I feel exhausted. This will only be a tiny update just to say that I'm alive. To those that have sent emails and haven't received a reply, I'll be answering them all tomorrow, sorry about the delay! The Firewave Design website has been given a content and graphics overhaul. It's basically finished and is online now. I'll be heading for Brisbane on the weekend. Right now, I need to get some sleep...

'nite.

Mmm... MDLP MiniDisc stacker! Sif that wouldn't be cool...

It was my birthday today (yesterday according to the clock - my mind is still in the 11th) - do I feel old!

A pretty relaxed day, all in all. Thanks again to Smartie for the little package-in-the-post, much appreciated! ;D

Well, now I'm 19, except again tonight I was asked the abasing question "are you 18?"

I assume this means that I don't look 18, let alone 19. I've now ruled out any positive sides to this that I'd previously conjured up.

On to other more inspiring subjects:

I saw a great film clip on Friday night/Saturday morning by the ever-creative Michel Gandry, famous for his work on many of Björk's film clips. It was for The Chemical Brothers' "Star Guitar". It's an intricate work of 3D compositing of footage taken from a train window to produce a landscape that is in sync with the music. If you get a chance, check it out!

The Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence CDs arrived today too! *finally*

Tomorrow (today according to the clock, see above) I have to meet another client. The problem right now is I'm having a lot of contracts piled on me, but I'm unable to start the main contract (which is holding up the others, because I've set aside resources for the primary contract and it's being held up). A logistical nightmare...

I won't really feel that I'm getting anything done until that contract is under way. My "spare" time has gone in to the design of my new site.

My brother bought a great set of Roland V Drums on the weekend and he's getting heavily back in to drumming, which is good to see. Despite having not played for years now, he's picked it up again immediately and is playing far more complex routines than he used to be able to (using double bass and odd time signatures, much in the style of Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater). V Drums, for those that haven't heard of them, are advanced digital drums. They use a special system called "COSM" to model drum and cymbal resonance and allow unlimited editing of all the properties of each trigger. In a word: cool.

The nights have taken on crispness from about mid last week... it makes it far more comfortable.

P.S. tourist drivers that don't know which side of the road to stay on should be SHOT.

Went for a walk along the beach this afternoon... there were three dolphins swimming around quietly in the still water.

Mmm...

Well, just went to see a movie... sort of. I went to see a movie but unfortunately we were a bit late and they'd locked the doors. D'oh. How lame is that? Kinda typical of businesses around here though :/ Instead we hung around for a while, got some maccas and then met up with another friend ours.

Crazy stuff.

Just when I thought I'd never have to read another ER diagram and conceptual schema in my life, there it is ;)

With that thought pushed deeply in to the dark and dusty ill-used corners of my mind, it's time for some shut-eye.

Started bidding on a Sony MZ-E909 MiniDisc player yesterday (or the day before, I can't even remember). I had been bidding on an MZ-E900 but the price was getting too high for what it was, so I decided to let someone else buy it. It's probably a good decision given the higher quality, style and battery life of the E909 (not to mention it's amazingly weightlessness).

Currently I'm still slowly making changes to my other website but I haven't put anything online. I'm only going to put it online once it's finished (which is generally how I like to do things... I think it's more professional really). I've had some more interest from another client also.

Meanwhile the weather has been quite turbulent recently. It seems to rain a tiny bit and then get hot again and rain again for a few minutes. It's kind of crazy. It has been slightly cooler, at least at night.

Probably heading to Brisbane on the weekend, although that's subject to change without notice (a bit like the rest of my life, LOL). About a week or so ago I paid for my car in full, which is a really good feeling. Of course, now I have no money, but hey, at least I own my own car in full now :)

The next three days will be crazy, I just know it. In the back of my head somewhere something's telling me that things are going to get very busy very quickly, although I'm not sure why.

I have to say I've felt a little tired lately, despite having more consistent sleeping hours; maybe that's the problem, my body's not used to it! Well, back to some design time! :) Might post another message later tonight.

P.S. Moved 'thezone' to a new server now.

i wonder if you can get jetpacketloss too

Had to rebuild the quote I sent away just a few days ago... the client wants some different specs now. Always fun!

You know there's something wrong with you when you spend an hour tracking down two fonts you used over a year ago. It could be worse - I could have spent the time smoking and drinking (and wasting money in the process). I was trying to match some fonts I'd used on a previous design that I'd created but never used. It's now going to feature on the new version of my site in an updated format. Going through all the old graphics is hard...

Ah rain... sweet rain.

Ahh... rain :) Last night we started going to Brisbane (in heavy rain as well actually) but turned around half way as the plan changed. It's a bit of a complex story, heh.

Right now it's pouring rain outside and the sky is dark grey. Finally some cool air :) I'm kicking back playing some short films on the net (thanks to my new connection) and it's got me thinking about making a short film again. It's something I'd love to do, but I don't really have a topic to do it on yet... *ponders*

I think it's time for a Nescafé :)

2002-3-1 Friday 3:7:23
A new month already! Well the ADSL connection is up and running smoothly (just a mail server problem to be sorted out). As such I'll be removing my old dialup account and shifting the main pages of this site elsewhere, though you'll still be able to access it at the same address and shouldn't notice any difference. I must say the ADSL is running sweetly! :D

Currently I'm listening to some random trip hop... I really like it... being able to stream it in real time is great too... once I find some songs I like I can grab nice quality versions from mp3.com and check our the artists' other songs too :)

*sends quote* OK, it's time to disappear and collapse in to bed.
