Today, I decided to go and get a new beanie :D It's a nice red one :) It's also really cold weather, so I'll be making good use of it. The air outside tonight reminds me of the Bunya Mountains. Mmm...
Again, the plan is to keep the fire burning all night, though I'll be going to bed in a few minutes instead of the crazy time last night. I watched some more of the World Cup tonight and Korea and Turkey played a very interesting game, with Turkey scoring the first point 15 seconds after the match started!
Time to curl up in bed and go to sleep I think. 'night all.

Brrr it's cold again! The fire is crackling away nicely in the other room and I plan on having it burn away all night (seems to work well when you get it burning at the right rate).
Again, it's probably a good time to call it quits and get some sleep... though I'm not really tired at all. It's cold, but I like rugging up and keeping warm. One of my favourite ways (besides the usual long sleeve t-shirt + jumper, and cargo pants, heh) is the beanie! Mmm beanie, what would I do without you? (probably just have a cold head, but where's the drama in that?)
*brrrrrr*
*adds more wood to the fire*
*jumps in to bed*

This is one of the late nights I was talking about ;)
After trying to make contact with the IMG of SCEC (damn acronyms!) again and failing, I managed to get in contact today and sort out the points that were vague.
I've just finished typing the examination and quotations (3829 words, to be exact) and I'm about to print them now. You know that there's something wrong when the amount of content you have to type to score a contract is more than the content that will be on the website that the contract describes! *shakes head* It's all part and parcel of the process though.
I think I have a nice fun-filled client possibility too... one that involves less talk and more action. I'll have to check in to that tomorrow.
Meanwhile I'm making progress with my other client right now, after going in a different direction artistically on the off-chance that they may like it. Luckily, they do like it, so I'll be continuing that new theme tomorrow as well and developing on the concept further.
Tonight I was described by someone as being "too serious"...
*gasp* :O Well I guess when it comes to certain things I'm very serious. As an example, I'm usually very serious about my work (it's one of those industries where if you're not, you don't get anywhere - that doesn't mean you can't have
attitude though). When it comes to my friends, I hope that I don't act too seriously most of the time - unless of course there's a reason to be. So dear readers (LOL), if I'm being too serious, tell me! :D
I'm not much of a soccer fan (or of sports in general) but I've turned in to a regular watcher of the World Cup. I have one thing to say: CURSE YOU FOR BEATING KOREA, GERMANY!
WHEW, I'm glad I got that out of my system... heh.
I'll also take this opportunity to mention that FileMaker Pro is disgusting and I hope it catches on fire... whilst inside a room full of spiders and snakes, that happens to be situated in the bubbling sulphur lakes of hell.
WHEW, I'm glad I got that out of my system too... ;)
Since it's nearing 6 AM and the sun is going to rise in about 40 minutes, I better go and get in bed where it's nice and warm and I don't have to consciously think. Sounds like a plan!
Nite all ;)

I've been thinking (LOL).
Mostly about life in general and where I'm headed with things that are currently on-the-go.
At this point in my life... in a lot of ways,
life's good. I don't mean that in a cliché way - I mean that I've sat back more than a few times recently and thought "wow, this is..." and then been lost for words. It's as though I have some new maxim of thought in recent weeks that's allowed me to view things in a fresh way. I've spent the last ten minutes trying to find the right word that summarises the feeling! It's a kind of energetic and tireless contentment.
Things in my world aren't exactly perfect (far from it really), but that hasn't stopped me from feeling as though I'm heading in the right direction (perhaps blindly? LOL). To know that your best friends are happy is a wonderful feeling.
In terms of work, as I've mentioned previously, I just need time to concentrate on each task as it's required to be completed! There are an incapacitating number of things happening right now, so I think the key over the coming three weeks is to focus assiduously on one thing at a time. That's not as easy as it seems though. Right now for example, while I'd love to be hacking in to the CRDB website backend, I have to write a full quotation and examination for an expression of interest from University of the Sunshine Coast's International Marketing Group! In reality, it couldn't have come at a worse time - they've been writing it over the last three months, but expect me to respond to it in full within one week. This isn't normally a problem for me, but the level of detail required is large and the resulting quotation I submit will be binding for three months unconditionally. I've been attempting contact them to clarify a few points of the brief (that make a big difference to the project), but so far I've been met consistently with an answering machine. There really is nothing more frustrating with time-critical programs than when the person that's approached you doesn't make themselves available for questions, especially after stating that you're to inform yourself fully of the project's details and that any ambiguous details be questioned immediately.
I'm sure I'll manage... it just equates to a few more late nights :)
How convenient that I mention late nights...! It's time for bed :)
G'night all.
You know what fate is worse than death? When someone steals the piece of tasty chicken you were saving for a midnight snack, that's what!
*hmmph!*
OK, enough crazy ranting, nite!

And the Infraction section is now online again :D The reason it was offline was that my old dial-up ISP finally shut down my FTP account (which had a nice 20 MB of storage space). No they didn't keep it open for so long out of charity... they kept it open because apparently they didn't receive my fax form and email stating that I wanted to cancel my account with them. This really shows how poor Australis's service is - they couldn't even remove an account correctly!
Months down the track they called me asking
why I hadn't used my account over the past few months. I told them that was because months ago I'd moved to ADSL and had cancelled my account with them in the manner described on the poorly-website at the same time (a difficult process in itself because their
fax number wasn't working, how typical of them! I had to email them to ask if the number had changed).
So a few weeks ago they really did cancel my account. I was most likely charged money for all the months that they incorrectly had it active for, too. They also bill two months in advanced. 'nuff said.
So now you can all download some wallpapers in the Infraction section to the left :)

OK, time to turn in for the night. The last week I've been heading to bed consistently past 5 AM, which is a worry. One night it was past 6 AM. This strange sleeping habit was caused by the not-so-well-designed Texas Instruments drivers and the mess that this room was in (which I had to spend about an hour cleaning because I was losing things in all the cables!).
The Reason program (by Propellerhead Software) has also been a contributing factor - it's just so much fun to play with!
I have a lot I want to write about, but now probably isn't the time. First priority: sleep.
Night all!
2002-6-20 Thursday 1:33:27
I've now converted this Garbage section to a database! I have no excuses left for not updating this area on a more regular basis (well... I'm sure I could find a few but I'll wait until I become slack again before using them ;)
This entry in itself is basically a test to ensure that things are working as they should be.
Meanwhile, it's freezing! It's been very windy all day and while there's been rain in other parts, it seems to have remained quite dry here. I'll post another update later :D
2002-6-16 Sunday 17:44:14
Statement: I hate Texas Instruments.
The basis of this statement involves their PCMCIA->PCI cradle drivers (and the slight problem of them not working).
Meanwhile I have a wireless link going between my laptop and the new server Isis. After some messing around on Monday I should have the wireless link going on my other server Osiris. The link will be used to join the network attached to Osiris to the network attached to Isis. Isis now has its RAID drives up and running and some of the client data already on it, while the rest will be merged across over the next two weeks. The office is developing well, with the internal walls all in. The front has been replaced and is waiting for its glass windows and doors.
This place has been non-stop for the last two to three weeks. I can't wait until things just settle back down again (though that won't be for a while, I'm sure... heh).
I've had a lot of stuff that I wanted to write in here but I haven't found the spare moments required to do so. I'm behind with
everything right now... I need a few spare days with no interruptions to catch up, but the chances of that happening are quite slim indeed.
Tonight I plan on doing something that I've wanted to do for a long time: make this section database driven! The easier it is for me to update, the more likely I'll write more often. Right now it involves manually editing the page and then uploading it, which is quite inefficient over 2000 updates... heh. Then I'll have to set aside some time to copy all of the old entries to the database.
I'm considering buying Prodigy's new advertising poster for their latest single "Baby's Got a Temper" - which I've found on PushPosters.co.uk (where I've previously ordered my other posters). It's very large though, at 1x1.5 m in size.
And now it's time for some pea and ham soup of j0r. :D~
Another long week without any updates...
Busy, busy, busy. I completed my response on Friday to the Expressions of Interest that Maryborough City Council sent my way regarding the redevelopment of their website. It'd be a good job to get and has a lot of possibilities attached to it. It's one of those things where 'time will tell', so I just have to wait and see.
This weekend has been spent continuing the configuring of the new computers here. The server arrived Friday night, as did my other brother (so for the weekend and tomorrow, my entire family is actually in one location! It's a miracle!). There was a bad hitch with the server though... its CPU fan
stopped working after about a day of use. As you can imagine, with an Athlon 1800+ XP, this isn't particularly a good thing. After I rushed to turn it off, I managed to burn my finger on the heatsink... not a good sign! :O Luckily, the XP line of CPUs seem to be quite resilient to heat and the core survived without damage. I'm pretty sure that if it'd sat there any longer and I hadn't noticed, there would have been some big problems. I'll have to either send the server back or just get the fan replaced (that'll be up to the store - I'd rather they just send a new fan than take the whole server back).
The wiring of the office has also been taking place over the last day and a half and will continue again tomorrow (well, today now). All the network cabling is in the walls along with the phone cabling. We ended up using about 100 m of CAT 5 cable... heh. Also, we've confirmed that we have line-of-sight for the wireless link that will go between here and the office. Should have pretty good link stability too, I think.
I now have my own mobile phone too (haven't really needed one previously but now I find more and more that it's handy to have for certain things). Currently I'm trying to figure out why my little hax0r'd data connection isn't working any more. I have a feeling that one of the connections is loose but right now I'm not going to spend the time to circuit test it. I'll do that tomorrow, as well as giving it a redesign and a clean up (it really needs it) - a case for it might help too... heh.
Sleep awaits, night!
2002-6-5 Wednesday 2:51:8
OK, so I haven't updated this in a while... but there have been other things to do.
It's rained for about the last 4 days and it's going to continue for a while longer. It seems that on each of these days, for some reason, I've been left standing in that rain. Mostly it's been unloading truck loads of furniture in to my brother and sister-in-law's new house. More specifically, the garage of their house, because there are still things to be completed internally. In the meantime, they're staying here. I think it'll be finished around Friday or next Monday.
I've also become hopelessly addicted to Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. I haven't been this addicted to a game since... well... since Tomb Raider...!
Anyway, it's probably time to get some sleep... too many late nights... plus, it's cold... *brrrr*

Ah... winter…
